The ACCBAT Second International Conference in Rome – March 23rd 2015
The ACCBAT Second International Conference in Rome. Institutions and experts dialogue in the framework of the World Water Day 2015 and under the patronage of Expo 2015.
In the framework of the United Nations World Water Day 2015 (UN WWD 2015) on March 23rd, will be held in Rome the Second International Conference of the ACCBAT project. Since water management issues represent a relevant topic for the UN and the International Community, the event SaveWaterReuseWater: The ACCBAT Strategic Project has been recognized as an UN WWD 2015 event (http://www.unwater.org/worldwaterday/events/en/).
In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 22, World Water Day in order to increase knowledge and awareness on issues related to water and the importance of the sustainable management of water resources. Thus, this Day looked as the perfect timeframe to talk about ACCBAT project’s advancements in the countries of implementations and to gather Ministers and experts from Ministries of Agriculture and Environment of Italy, Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia, European and Italian Institutions representatives and entities working in the water management sector.
Many countries bordering the Mediterranean Basin are in a state of physical water scarcity, thus the use of treated wastewater in agriculture promoted by ACCBAT is one of the suitable techniques that could contribute to reduce conventional water consumption and contribute to sustainable agricultural production as wished by Expo 2015 that gave its patronage to the event.
The event will also contribute to promote efforts to fulfil international commitments made on water and water-related issues by 2015 according to the International Decade for Action ‘Water for Life’ that will come to conclusion this year.
The conference will start at 9.30 at Palazzetto Mattei in Villa Celimontana.
