ACCBAT Project presented to the students of the University of Bologna – Alma Mater Studiorum

On October 7th, 2014, in the framework of WSWC project “Water Scarcity and Water Cooperation in the Mediterranean basin”, the ACCBAT project was presented to dozens of students of the Agricultural Sciences Department in Bologna.
The seminar was carried out with the support of many professors of the Agricultural Sciences Department, which reported water analysis and studies for agricultural purposes.
ICU, then, represented by the Eng. Daniele Bonetti (ACCBAT Communication Manager) provided an overview on the ACCBAT project activities currently running in Jordan, Lebanon and Tunisia promoting a more sustainable agriculture. It was widely explained how through the increase of water-use efficiency and the use of treated waste-water for irrigated agriculture it is possible to improve water demand management and ensure water needs of the agricultural sector on a regional scale.
Furthermore, the focus on technology transfer and training in Best Agricultural Practices of local farmers and beneficiaries was truly appreciated by students, which showed deep interest in the topic and wished for a wider involvement of the Universities in cooperation projects.
